Championship new boys Wrexham have signed former youth goalkeeper Danny Ward on a free transfer after his contract with Leicester City expired.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper is a free agent. After the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League last season. And has decided not to renew his contract.

Ward joined Wrexham’s academy at the age of 14, but has yet to make a senior appearance. He moved to the ‘Reds’ between 2012 and 2018 before ending up at Leicester.

“I’m excited and it feels great to be back here,” Ward said. After putting pen to paper on his boyhood club, which is co-owned by Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.

“I’m grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity at a very young age. And hopefully I can repay it.”
